Arthritis pain is difficult
to deal with and when you add insomnia to that, you have a
difficult situation to face in your life. You do not get the
rest you need to stay healthy and this only makes your
condition worse. It is a never-ending cycle.
Having difficulty falling asleep at times is
something that happens to almost everyone. But, if you are
having frequent problems falling asleep you should contact your
doctor. Other symptoms of insomnia include constantly waking
during the night for no reason and tossing and turning during
the night. Some people with insomnia do sleep through the
night. When you wake up, you feel
tired. You may have slept for eight or nine hours.
You should see your doctor. Your problem can be diagnosed
and treated.
Chronic insomnia in arthritis patients is
usually caused by pain. Joints can become inflamed after
physical activity and when you go to bed, you may find it
difficult to fall asleep. Another reason for sleeplessness
among arthritis patients is stress. Your condition and your
inability to perform your daily routine will cause stress. It
may also be a side-effect of the medicine you take.
You are not alone in having this problem. You
should talk to your doctor about the medications you are
taking. You should also work with them on the problems causing
your stress. You and your doctor are really the only ones who
can determine the cause and best solution for your problem.
Having pain and not being able to sleep does
not make life easy. The only way to get some relief for
both conditions is to discuss your problems with your
doctor.
