Living with pain on a daily
basis is not easy. Millions of people are affected by the pain
of arthritis every day. There are many different types of
conditions known as arthritis. They have one common
characteristic: joint inflammation. Some people have pain so
severe they cannot get out of paid. This can lead to
depression. Learning to manage your pain will make your
day-to-day life easier.
Some of the things you can do to relieve your
pain are to exercise and eat more nutritional foods daily and
taking supplements, such as multi-vitamins if approved by your
doctor. Some arthritis sufferers have food allergies. Working
with your doctor through diet elimination therapy, you can find
out if you are allergic to a particular food or food group that
increases your pain.
If you are overweight, you should discuss a
weight loss plan with your doctor. Excess
weight puts a stain on the joints. You should also include
an exercise plan with your weight loss plan. Your doctor
will recommend exercises or may refer you to a
physical therapist. It is important that you increase your
range of motion. Patients suffering with rheumatoid
arthritis have even more limited physical capabilities.
Work with your doctor to strengthen your joints and
stretch for more mobility. There are some exercises that
are not good for patients with arthritis such as step
aerobics. This puts too much pressure on the joints.
Your doctor may prescribe medications to ease
the pain. If you osteoarthritis, your doctor may suggest
over-the-counter medications such as Motrin or Advil.
Rheumatoid arthritis patients are usually given prescriptions
for medications. These medications could cause an imbalance of
nutrients in the body and you may have to counterbalance those
with vitamins and minerals.
Learning to manage your arthritis pain will
allow you to live a more normal life.
